What is The SUBB Group?

For nearly eight years now there has been no organisation quite like Swing Unlimited. The brainchild of Dave Wilkinson, and formed in October 2001, the SUBB Group consists of an ever increasing number of bands, each having a slightly different flavour and character. The Group brings together best musicians from across the south coast to perform in a variety of styles with the aim of:

• production of a fantastic live sound using the talents and characters within the Group
• create exciting live shows, performing music sources from the world of jazz
• To pay tribute to the groups in the past that have led to the creation of modern jazz

What do the bands sound like?

We perform across three main areas (although expanding all the time):

• Swing Unlimited Big Band:: The classic Big Band, aims to recreate the sounds of Big Bands past present and future, including numbers not normally performed by this configuration of instruments
• Smaller groups including; SUBBzero:: A classic modern Jazz group, incorporating styles reminicent of Miles Davies, Pat Metheny and Herbie Hancock and their own special blend of Jazz, including vocals. SUBBdance:: The ultimate dance band, the style is swing. Not to forget the ultra-cool SUBBportrait.
• SU2:: The band created thanks to demands from local people to play this genre of music in as near professional style as possible while at the same time benefitting from expert tuition.
